Harout Semerjian (BS ‘93)
The LAU Alumni Association is proud to name Harout Semerjian (BS ‘93) the recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award 2026 for his exceptional leadership and lasting contributions to the global biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industry.
With more than three decades of experience in oncology and hematology, Semerjian has built an outstanding international career leading respected healthcare organizations. In 2025, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Geron Corporation, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative treatments for patients with serious blood cancers.
Throughout his career, he has held executive leadership positions at Geron, GlycoMimetics, Immunomedics, Ipsen, and Novartis Oncology, contributing to the delivery of transformative therapies while leading organizations through periods of innovation, growth, and commercialization. He has also served on the board of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, a testament to his prowess in life sciences internationally.
Semerjian’s leadership has contributed to advancing cancer care and improving the lives of patients worldwide. His business acumen in blending scientific innovation with strategic leadership has positioned him among the leading executives in the international biotechnology industry.
