Ms. Doha El Zein Halawi

Doha El Zein Halawi graduated in 1981 with a BA in Communication Media from LAU.

She started her career in Lebanon as editor for Annahar Al Arabi Wal Dowali, then at Al Hawadeth Magazine. Moving to Dubai she taught at Al Mawakeb School then assumed the position of Assistant GM at Publi Graphics.

Although she dedicated her time then to raising a wonderful family and to her career, she always felt that she owed time to serve others.

In Dubai she served as a member of the committee of LAU’s alumni Chapter there for 5 years. Then after moving back to Lebanon she served as a committee member of the Beirut Chapter for 1 year, as member of the Alumni Association’s Executive Committee from 2000 until 2006.

In 2006 she was appointed Vice President of the Alumni Association Board then elected to the same position twice from 2008 until 2013. In 2015 she was elected President of the Alumni Association a position she assumed until 2017.

She has been serving on LAU’s President’s Circle since 2010 and on LAU’s Gala dinner committee and LAU’s Board of International Advisors since 2015.

She also served as President of the Lebanese Scout Association and President of the Rotary Club Beirut Metropolitan.

To top all this, she is the Executive Director of her family’s Alliance.

She never saw her social work as enduring or something she had to put up with. She did it and still does it ever so elegantly because she chooses to and because she feels great satisfaction when serving and helping others. She is never off duty. As a matter of fact, I don’t think it can be any other way with her.

Not only is she an LAU alumna, but so are her husband and three children.

Mrs. Doha El Zein Halawi, alumni like you are and will always be a great asset to the community and to LAU.
